As described by the bylaws, the Graduate Program in Music of the Universidade Federal da Bahia maintains stricto sensu masters and doctoral courses in the various areas of concentration in music, and is governed by the legal documents of Ministry of Education and UFBA that regulate this matter, and defined in complementary resolutions of the collegiate of the program.
To obtain the degree of Master/E, the student must attend and obtain approval in the respective curricular components, elaborate, defend and have approved a master's dissertation, meeting the requirements detailed by article 13 of these rules.
To obtain the degree of Doctor, the student must attend and obtain approval in the respective curricular components; Elaborate, defend and have approved a doctoral thesis meeting the requirements detailed by the bylaws.
The Masters course in music will have a minimum duration of three (3) semesters and the doctoral course in music will have a minimum duration of 5 (five) semesters. The maximum duration will be, respectively, 4 (four) semesters and 8 (eight) semesters, counted from the initial enrollment as a regular student.
